Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2026, carrying on the organization, promotion and communication of the sporting and cultural events related to the next Winter Games.

Milano Cortina 2026 will be the first large-scale Olympics in history: 13 Olympic venues, 21 provincial capitals, 2,300 municipalities directly involved, over an area of 22,000 square km.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee has been established in 2019 with the purpose of organizing Olympic and Paralympic Games in compliance with the Host City Contract signed jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the two cities of Milano and Cortina and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).

Furthermore, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano/Bozen are all partners in this major national-level project, with the support of the Italian Government.

Position

The Cleaning and Waste Cluster Coordinator play a crucial role in the planning phase of cleaning, waste collection and snow removal services at both competitive and non-competitive venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026.

The planning process involves determining the scope of the service, specifying the service level in detail and defining the operational strategy before, during and after the Games.

The services will be provided by external vendors, and the planning phase includes market analysis and initial evaluation of proposals from various suppliers, categorized into lots.

The workplace is in Milan with various travels to the reference clusters. During the operational phase, Cleaning and Waste Coordinators will move to the areas affected by the activities of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026, acting as CNW Venue Manager.

They will be responsible for day-to-day management of services provided by contractors/partners, control, acting as a focal point for Cluster-Central Office communication, and problem resolution.


He/She will:


  • Execute the service scope, focusing on each cluster and IOC Stakeholder;
  • Implementation of the environmental and of the sustainability policies of the Foundation;
  • Monitoring definition of requirements necessary for the activation/integration of services provided by municipal companies, in agreement with the City Operations function;
  • Supervise specific needs with EDE (External Development Entities) to assess their availability for supply;
  • Constant monitoring of the rendered service, in line with the KPIs defined in supply/partnership contracts;
  • Project manage the venue’s timeline deliverables and dependencies;
  • To liaise with Milano Cortina 2026 delivery partners to ensure they have all the relevant information in a timely and effective manner;
  • Liaise with contractors, ensuring all Health and Safety legislation is implemented;
  • Act as the CNW representative to the venue’s teams within the venue planning;
  • Preparing operational documents and ensure the operations manual is adhered to and delivered on time;
  • Provide leadership, training and consistency information to CNW Assistant Managers in the venue planning;
  • Total responsibility for the smooth CNW operation of your venue during mobilisation, games time and demobilisation;
  • Report and provide feedback for CNW programme reporting, including post-Games reporting.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing complex projects in large geographical areas;
  • Ability to apply sustainability principles within complex projects;
  • Previous experience in managing contracts/relationships with large, public, municipal or publicly owned companies;
  • Previous experience in facility management, major events, or project management;
  • knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel);
  • Degree in technical disciplines (Management, Events, Hospitality, Entertainment, Tourism, Environmental Engineering, Economics, Architecture) or proven experience in facility/project management;
  • Ensure delivering of exceptional customer service to numerous client groups;
  • Be able to work within a continuously changing environment;
  • Fluent in English.

Are considered as a plus:


  • Experience in sustainability;
  • Specific knowledge of one of the territories affected by the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026 (Valtellina, City of Milan, Val di Fiemme, Cortina/Anterselva, City of Verona);
  • Previous experience in a municipal/publicly owned/participated company in the delivery sector;
  • Previous experience in multiservice companies;
  • Previous experience in sport events (e.g., Cleaning & Waste, logistics, or games services).
