Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2026, carrying on the organization, promotion and communication of the sporting and cultural events related to the next Winter Games.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee has been established in 2019 with the purpose of organizing Olympic and Paralympic Games in compliance with the Host City Contract signed jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the two cities of Milano and Cortina and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).

Furthermore, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano/Bozen are all partners in this major national-level project, with the support of the Italian Government.

Position

Event services is the functional area, within the organizing committee for the Milano Cortina 2026 winter games (Olympics and Paralympics), that is in charge to plan, design and provide a safe and welcoming visit to all ticketed spectators at the official competition venues and other services to accredited stakeholders.

The Event Services Senior Operations Manager will be the Team Member mostly focused on the operational side of the Functional Area’s overall planning and will oversee all the Staff dedicated to the Operations side of Event Services. That includes Cluster Managers, Venue Managers, Venue Coordinators, and a Venue Operations Coordinator.

This is a crucial role to define the general planning principles, guarantee consistency of the planning across all clusters and venues and monitor the status of advancement towards Games Time. It is also the first contact point for escalation of main issues.


The Event Services operations manager will:


  • Work to define the overall operational plans of the department and integrate their operations into the rest of the organizing committee’s planning. He/she will also, when needed, make sure to integrate their plans with external entities or partners (city operations, local authorities, local event delivery entities, etc);
  • Support with the creation of guidelines, policies and procedures related to the Event Services functional area and will make sure that they are applied to both the planning and the delivery phase of the project;
  • Moving forward to Games Time, he/she will be responsible for delegating the planning to the different cluster managers, after a phase of mentoring, but will also continue to monitor to maintain consistency and quality of planning;
  • Provide regular updates and, where needed, escalate operational risks and issues to the Head of Event Services;
  • Oversee scoping for the right type and quantities of resources needed to implement the operational plan;
  • Monitor with Cluster Managers for the Master Schedule tasks to be accomplished;
  • Work to create strong and reliable working relationships with all the other key Functional Areas that Event Services interact with;
  • Facilitate and organize regular Event Services update meetings;
  • Work in close collaboration with the Event Services Workforce Manager to create efficiencies and consistency of planning;
  • Work in close collaboration with the Event Services Ceremonies Manager to support the EVS operational plans for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies;
  • Support the Event Services Training Manager by providing content and assigning staff for the training sessions in the lead-up to Games Time.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and Experience of Olympic Games Event Services operations and goals is crucial;
  • Operations Management experience in large-scale events, productions, or venues;
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently work with a high number of stakeholders and reconcile different needs;
  • Project management skills and ability to think outside the box;
  • Ability to work in a very fast paced environment with numerous and tight deadlines;
  • Understanding of the wide range of implications that planning assumptions can have on the whole project;
  • Ability to keep a clear line of communication inside and outside the Event Services Team;
  • Ability to identify priorities and work towards their accomplishment.
